Privacy policy

This site is new, and so is this policy. It covers exactly what BreedVerified actually does today, not a generic template.

The short version

• Nothing tracks you until you press "Accept analytics" on the cookie banner.
• If you sign up for one of our free guides, we collect the email address you enter, to send you that guide and occasional related emails. Nothing else.
• We never sell or rent your data.
• This site has no user accounts and does not process payments itself.

What we collect

Analytics: only after you consent

If and only if you press "Accept analytics" on the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics with IP anonymization enabled, to see which pages people actually read. If you press "Reject", or simply ignore the banner, no analytics script is loaded at all. This is enforced in code, not just stated here: the analytics script is not present anywhere in the page until that button is clicked.

Email, if you sign up for a guide

If you submit your email to receive one of our free guides ("5 Things Nobody Tells You Before Getting a Dog" or the cat equivalent), we collect that email address. We use it to send you the guide and, occasionally, related updates. Every email has an unsubscribe link. Email is handled by Systeme.io, which acts as our email service provider and stores this data on our behalf.

Local storage

We store one item in your browser's local storage, named bv-consentimiento-v1, recording your cookie choice so we do not ask again on every page. It contains only the word "accepted" or "rejected". It is not a tracking identifier and never leaves your device. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Server logs

Our host, Hostinger, keeps standard web server logs including IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. This is ordinary hosting infrastructure and applies to any website.

• Hostinger: hosting and server logs.
• Google Analytics: only after you consent.
• Systeme.io: only if you submit the email form for a free guide.
• Gumroad: purchases are processed entirely on Gumroad's own site, under its own privacy policy, not this one.

Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. If you are in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, to have it deleted, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information, as that term is defined by the CCPA.

In practice, the only personal data we hold is an email address, if you gave us one. To see it, correct it or have it deleted, email hello@breedverified.com and we will act within 30 days. To withdraw analytics consent, clear this site's data in your browser and choose "Reject" when the banner returns.

Children

This site is intended for adults choosing or caring for a pet. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes with it, and we will say what changed rather than quietly editing the text.
